Diane Arbus: Child running in the park, N.Y.C., 1959

Diane Arbus was an American photographer from the 1900's who captured black-and-white portraits. Her portraits displayed a wide range of people from circus performers to the mentally ill. Arbus's photographs documented "normal" life. It was as if Arbus wandered the streets where she would meet people who she would eventually capture in a photograph.
Prior to today I had never heard of Diane Arbus. I enjoy the realism among her photographs. That is why I chose the above picture. I loved how the little girl looked as though she was soaring. The girl looks as if she did not have a care in the world. Diane Arbus took people in everyday situations and made them something more. That is what I loved about the Child running in the park.
