Diane Arbus Photography: Man With Tattoos At Bar
Diane Arbus Photography: Man With Tattoos At Bar
Written By: Madison Herley
Diane Arbus along with other contemporary artists were inspired by one of the most prominent street photographers of the early to mid 20th century, Lisette Model. Arbus tended to photograph portraits of lower class people, people she saw on the streets, and strangers. Thus, Arbus wanted to show the beauty within everyone.
I choose this photo above because some people do not appreciate the beauty that comes within the art of tattoos. This photo to myself describes a lonely man, covered in tattoos, sitting at a table at a bar with a drink, and pack of cigarettes. Most photographers tend to take photos are individuals who do not have tattoos covered in their body. Therefore, I like how Arbus went outside the box and took a photo of an individual who wasn't the ideal model for every photographer.
