Manet - Dejeuner sur l'Herbe
Edouard Manet painted "Dejeuner sur l'Herbe" (Luncheon on the Grass) in 1862. It pictures two men and a woman, presumably having their lunch, and a women in the background. This painting was said to be controversial in its time. The one women sitting with the two men appears to be fully naked. While the two men are having a conversation, the women looks to be staring at the viewer. I like painting for the fact that she seems so out of place in what would otherwise be a normal scene. Its almost like she is aware that there is someone looking at the painting.
