Digital Painting: The Gloomy Bridge
Digital Painting “The Gloomy Bridge”
Created By: Madison Herley
My digital painting piece was inspired by a photograph that I took while in Newport, Rhode Island the day before Christmas Eve. It was down pouring in Newport and I was sitting in the backseat of my mom’s Jeep when we were approaching a beautiful bridge. I decided to take a photo that came out blurry because of the rain and movement of the Jeep but it actually gave the photo a unique look to it. Also, after taking the picture of the bridge I decided to change it to black and white to get more of a gloomy photo. I decided to digital paint this photography because I thought it would be a beautiful representation of the bridge. I used lighter shades of black, grey, and white in order to outline specific objects in the image. I really enjoyed painting on Adobe Photoshop because I learned how to paint and make the image precise by using certain tools. These tools allowed me to create the look I was going for. Therefore, this project was difficult at first because I never used Photoshop before but once I got the hang of things, it turned out well.
