I appreciate the simplicity of Paul Gauguin's work. The painting I chose is of a women on the beach. Gaugauin does not emphasize the background the women is his focal point. His use of vibrant colors around the subject helps to emphasize her body. Gaugauin's use of shadows adds detail to the women's features, helping viewers create a better picture of her figure. Gauguin like the other impressionists went outside to capture what he saw. He used his perception of the moment to create a unique painting.
