Paul Gauguin: The Painter of Sunflowers
This painting is called "The Painter of Sunflowers", by Paul Gauguin in 1888. I chose this painting because sunflowers are my favorite kind of flower, and also because this is a portrait Vincent Van Gogh painting the flowers. This painting stood out to me because we have been watching the movie about Vincent's life. During this time, Vincent and Paul were friends, however they had many arguments. When Vincent first saw the painting he thought Paul had portrayed him as a "madman", although later on he commented, "my face has lit up after all a lot since, but it was indeed me, extremely tired and charged with electricity as I was then.'
