Paul Gauguin Painting "The Day of the God"

I choose the painting "The Day of the God" created by Paul Gauguin because of the color palette chosen. My eyes were drawn right away to all of the different colors used in this painting. It is truly breathtaking. I believe this painting could reflect an experience the artist entailed while traveling on a Pacific island, perhaps. In addition, this painting looks to be illustrating a religious ceremony of some sort. I say this because we have a figure in the middle of the painting, standing tall, with his or her arms up. Furthermore, I like this painting because of all of the different surroundings. In this painting, the audience sees dancers, the beach, mountains, water, land, ceremony, people, trees, and much more. Lastly, my eye caught this painting the most because I believe it is very unique from the other paintings in the previous centuries of art. Gauguin and other artists of this time period were creating vivid colors, symbolic, abstract, and geometric forms. Therefore, I believe Gauguin created a beautiful, unique, well done piece of art.
