"Street in Rouen" by Paul Gauguin

This is called the "Street in Rouen" painting by Paul Gauguin. Gauguin painted this large landscape while he was living in this town in Northeast France between January and November 1884. He was influenced by Cezanne and Pissarro. I chose this painting because it stood out to me next to all of his other paintings because it was not nearly as colorful as them. Each of his paintings are known to be bright with many different color choices, but this painting is the opposite of bright. I also enjoyed how this painting is showing us the area in which he lived, and is not just a meaningless area.
