Frida Kahlo- My Grandparents My Parents and Me
Frida Kahlo's art is very interesting to look at. All of her pieces have different but strong meanings behind them. Her painting "My Grandparents My Parents and Me" represents her family tree. Frida is the naked little girl at the bottom holding the red ribbon, her parents are above her, and then above them are their parents, Frida's grandparents. All of their portraits are based off of their wedding photos. Her mom is shown having a baby coming out of her stomach. This might be symbolizing herself in her mother's stomach or her being envious that she cannot have a child herself. Also under her mother is a sperm fertilizing an egg with sperms swimming around it. I like how the paintings have such little details to them and the more you look, the more things you find.
