The Wounded Deer

This is a painting by Frida Kahlo, in which she has painted a deer wounded by arrows. Instead of painting a normal deer, she makes the deer's face her own face. I chose this painting because it shows Frida's emotional state. She painted this after a surgery that was supposed to lighten her back pain had failed.  After she learned she wouldn't start to feel better she must have wanted to convey her sadness and pain through art.
