The Yellow Cow -1911

Franz Marc is one of my favorite artists so far. I love his use of color throughout the piece. When I researched The Yellow Cow, 1911 it said that this piece was a tribute to his second marriage to Maria Franck. The cow was supposed to represent the safety he felt within their union. His use of warm tones elicits a positive feelings. Even as the bull rears in the image the colors make the viewer feel safe. I truly love his detail. In the background the mountains over look the bull and the sky is perfectly colored for a sunset. Franz Marc truly expresses his wants throughout each piece with his diversity of color choices.
