Un Chien Andalou Film Reaction
- The Burning Giraffe by Salvador Dali
The 1929 film, Un Chien Andalou, is unlike any film I have ever watched before. I was definitely not expecting to witness a woman's eyeball being sliced open with a razor in one of the opening scenes. Personally, I thought a few of the scenes were strange and uncomfortable. These feelings were especially expressed after watching the scene of the male character grabbing the female characters breasts. It seemed as if the female did not want him doing that, yet he did it anyway. The scene I found most interesting was the one with the character's hand being shown with a hole in the middle of it and a pile of ants crawling out from inside the hole. This scene successfully represents Christianity. Un Chien Andalou was directed by Luis Bunuel and the artist known as Salvador Dali. Dali's goal for this film was to present a sense of mystery and illogicality. Overall, I believe Dali and Bunuel accomplished this.
